Corporación Colectivo de Abogados “José Alvear Restrepo” (CCAJAR) Established within the context of an armed conflict lasting more than 50 years, CCAJAR works to defend and promote human rights in Colombia. CCAJAR’s work has resulted in prosecutions of individuals responsible for crimes against humanity and war crimes, and continues to establish responsibility for massacres, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, and acts of sexual violence within the Colombian justice system and the International Criminal Court. The screening will be followed by a reception with the President of CCAJAR, Luis Guillermo Pérez Casas, providing the opportunity to discuss the human rights situation in Colombia and the work of this exemplary organisation.

CCAJAR’s President, Mr. Pérez Casas, graduated from the National University of Colombia, has been a member of the “Jose Alvear Restrepo” Lawyers Collective since 1987. Mr. Pérez Casas and his family have been forced to leave the country twice, following repeated death threats as a consequence of representing victims of crimes against humanity, and for his work before the International Criminal Court.
